Configuring your Mac for dbRASweb

This page provides instructions on how to configure your Mac to connect to dbRASweb.

At this time, only Java versions 8 and below are supported with dbRAS. Please follow the steps in Section 1 below to determine what version of Java you have installed. If Java is not installed, follow the steps in Section 3 below.

Preparing Java

Section 1: How to identify what version of Java is installed on your Mac

  1. Click on Apple icon on upper left of screen.
  2. Go to System Preferences
  3. Click on the Java icon to access the Java Control Panel.
    If you do not have Java installed, please skip to Section 3 below.
  4. Under the General tab in the Java Control Panel, click the About... button
  5. A dialog appears (after clicking About) showing the Java version.
  6. If you have Java 8 or below installed, please skip to the Installing Citrix Receiver step. If you have Java 9 or higher installed, please continue to Section 2 below.

Section 2: Uninstalling Java version 9/9.0.1

  1. Click the Finder icon in your dock
  2. Click the Go menu
  3. Click Utilities
  4. Locate and double-click the terminal application
  5. In the terminal window Copy and Paste one command at a time and execute each command below (Mac password required after running first command):
    sudo rm -rf /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk-9.jdk
    sudo rm -fr /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin
    sudo rm -fr /Library/PreferencePanes/JavaControlPanel.prefPane
    sudo rm -fr ~/Library/Application\ Support/Java
    sudo rm -rf /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk-9.0.1.jdk
  6. Remove the dbRAS Safari Plug-In that was previously installed by going to System Preferences > Profiles > ‘dbRAS Safari Plug-In Config’ then click on the - sign as below
  7. Restart your MAC
  8. Continue to Section 3 below.

Section 3: Installing Java

  1. On your Mac, launch the Safari browser.
  2. Download Java SE Development Kit 8u152 / jdk-8u151-macosx-x64.dmg:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html
  3. Click the Downloads folder in the dock and click the jdk-xxxx-macosx-x64.dmg file to open the Java installer archive.
  4. Once the Java installer has started, click Continue.
  5. Click Install to begin the installation.
  6. When prompted, enter your Mac account password and click Install Software.
  7. Once the installation is finished, click Close
  8. Continue to the Installing Citrix Receiver steps below

Installing Citrix Receiver

If you access your virtual desktop via dbGroup UA, you should install the Citrix Receiver for the best experience.

  1. Browse to receiver.citrix.com.
  2. Click Download Receiver for Mac.
  3. Once the download is complete, go to your Downloads folder and launch CitrixReceiverWeb.dmg.
  4. Double-click Install Citrix Receiver to launch the installer.
  5. Click Continue to step through the installer. Click Agree to agree to the terms.
  6. Enter your macOS password when prompted.
  7. Once the installation is finished, click Close.

Configuring Safari and Java Security

In this step, you will download a small package that will automatically configure your security settings.

This installer configures Safari and Java with the necessary permissions to run dbRASweb components. The changes are limited to dbRASweb sites only and will not affect the security of your Mac when connecting to other sites on the Internet.

  1. Click the following link to download: dbRASweb Mac Configuration Package.
  2. Click the Downloads button in Safari and double-click the file to launch the installer.
  3. When prompted, step through the installer to install the package.

    Note: When prompted, enter your macOS password.
  4. Once complete, click Restart to reboot your Mac.

Logging in to dbRASweb

Once the installation of Java is complete, you can go ahead and log in to dbRASweb.

  1. In the Safari web browser, click a link below to launch the dbRAS landing page:
    Internals dbrasweb.db.com
    Externals / Vendors dbrasweb-ext.db.com
  2. Choose your nearest location and how you wish to authenticate, then click Login.
  3. Enter your login credentials and click Sign In.
  4. You should now see the dbRASweb Portal home page.

Connecting to your virtual desktop

Once connected to dbRASweb, follow these steps to connect to your virtual desktop.

  1. Click the Desktop tab then choose the dbGroup UA tab.
  2. The Secure Application Manager will start to launch. At first, you may see this Java security popup. Check I accept the risk and want to run this application and then click Run.
  3. When prompted to run "JSAM", click Always. You should only need to do this once.
  4. When prompted, enter your macOS password.
  5. The JSAM should now be running in the lower-right corner of your screen.
  6. Now, switch back to dbRASweb in your browser and choose the dbGroup UA tab that opened.
  7. Log in using your Windows username and password.
  8. Once logged in, click Settings and ensure ICA Client is set to Native:

  9. Click Save Settings.
  10. Choose your desktop session and click Connect.
  11. After a short delay, your Deutsche Bank desktop will appear:
  12. To view your session in full screen, choose View > Full Screen from the menu bar.
