Configuring your Mac for dbRASweb

This page provides instructions on how to configure your Mac to connect to dbRASweb.

In particular, Macs require Java to be installed and configured correctly in order for all features to work properly. This guide will walk you through the steps required to download, install and configure Oracle Java so that your Mac can connect to dbRASweb.

Installing Java

  1. On your Mac, launch the Safari browser.
  2. Browse to java.oracle.com.
  3. Click the Java Downloads button.
  4. Click Download JDK.
  5. Click Accept License Agreement.
  6. Under the latest version, click the Mac OS X x64 link to begin the download:
  7. Click the Downloads folder in the dock and click the jdk-xxxx-macosx-x64.dmg file to open the Java installer archive.
  8. Once the Java installer has started, click Continue.
  9. Click Install to begin the installation.
  10. When prompted, enter your Mac account password and click Install Software.
  11. Once the installation is finished, click Close.

Installing Citrix Receiver

If you access your virtual desktop via dbGroup UA, you should install the Citrix Receiver for the best experience.

  1. Browse to receiver.citrix.com.
  2. Click Download Receiver for Mac.
  3. Once the download is complete, go to your Downloads folder and launch CitrixReceiverWeb.dmg.
  4. Double-click Install Citrix Receiver to launch the installer.
  5. Click Continue to step through the installer. Click Agree to agree to the terms.
  6. Enter your macOS password when prompted.
  7. Once the installation is finished, click Close.

Logging in to dbRASweb

Once the installation of Java is complete, you can go ahead and log in to dbRASweb.

  1. In the Safari web browser, click a link below to launch the dbRAS landing page:
    Internals dbrasweb.db.com
    Externals / Vendors dbrasweb-ext.db.com
  2. Choose your nearest location and how you wish to authenticate, then click Login.
  3. Enter your login credentials and click Sign In.
  4. You should now see the dbRASweb Portal home page.

Connecting to your virtual desktop

Once connected to dbRASweb, follow these steps to connect to your virtual desktop.

  1. Click the Desktop tab then choose the dbGroup UA tab.
  2. The Secure Application Manager will launch automatically. You will be prompted as to whether you want to trust the Java plugin.

    IMPORTANT - BEFORE YOU CLICK 'TRUST':

    1. Choose Safari > Preferences...

    2. Click the Security tab and then click Website Settings next to Internet Plug-ins.
    3. Make sure Java is selected in the left-hand list.
    4. Under Currently Open Websites, select the dbRASweb server name that you are currently logged into. For example: us-gdc2.dbrasweb.db.com, uk-wdc2.dbrasweb.db.com, sg-kch2.dbrasweb.db.com etc.)

    5. For Macs running Safari 10:

      1. Click the drop-down and choose On.
      2. Hold down the ⌥ Option key and click the drop-down again to reveal the hidden options menu. Click Run in Safe Mode so that it is unchecked.

        EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: There are at least two dbRAS nodes in each region. You will need to repeat this action when you are sent to the alternative node.

        For example, if you are logging in to the US and you make this change for us-gdc2.dbrasweb.db.com, you will need to make the same change when you are sent to the alternative node, us-hbr2.dbrasweb.db.com.

        If you don't do this, your dbRAS session may only work correctly ~50% of the time.

      3. Click Trust when you're asked to confirm.

      For Macs running Safari 9 or earlier:

      1. Click the drop-down and choose Allow Always.
      2. Click the drop-down again and choose Run in Unsafe Mode.

        EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: There are at least two dbRAS nodes in each region. You will need to repeat this action when you are sent to the alternative node.

        For example, if you are logging in to the US and you make this change for us-gdc2.dbrasweb.db.com, you will need to make the same change when you are sent to the alternative node, us-hbr2.dbrasweb.db.com.

        If you don't do this, your dbRAS session may only work correctly ~50% of the time.

      3. Click Trust when you are asked to confirm.
    6. Click Done and close the Safari Preferences window.
  3. Now go back to the Secure Application Manager launch window in the bottom-right corner of your screen and click the Trust button.
  4. Next, you will be prompted to run a Java program. Check the box Do not show this again... and click Run.
  5. When prompted whether or not to run JSAM, click Always.
  6. When prompted, enter your macOS password.
  7. The JSAM should now be running in the lower-right corner of your screen.
  8. Now, switch back to dbRASweb in your browser and choose the dbGroup UA tab that opened.
  9. Log in using your Windows username and password.
  10. Once logged in, click Settings and ensure ICA Client is set to Native:

  11. Click Save Settings.
  12. Choose your desktop session and click Connect.
  13. After a short delay, your Deutsche Bank desktop will appear:
  14. To view your session in full screen, choose View > Full Screen from the menu bar.
